There are lots of business networking events about, most of which are serious and professional in nature. This is where Powered Up Business Networking come in! Our events take place in a pub that are designed for business owners and professionals like yourself but are super relaxed and as one attendee said “probably the most unprofessional networking event I have ever been to.” Which was meant as an insult, but we took it as a massive compliment.

FAQs
What is a networking event?
A networking event is a gathering where businesses come together to meet, build relationships, and explore potential business opportunities. These events can take various forms, the majority are morning based but ours are evening events and they take place in a pub. Networking events provide a platform for business owners and professionals to expand their networks, share knowledge, and learn from one another. They offer amazing opportunities to connect with other individuals, potential clients, people that will refer leads to you, collaborators or maybe even just people that turn out to be good friends. Our events focus very much on the friendship side of things, fostering relationships that mean you have access to great advice and people that will recommend you to others.
What should I do at a networking event?
At a networking event, your main goal should always be to build long lasting connections, especially when first starting out. This will lead onto the ability to explore potential opportunities with people and get referrals. Start by introducing yourself confidently and engaging in conversations with others. Sometimes it also pays to just go with the flow! Relax, try to enjoy the event and just get to know people. Listen attentively, ask questions, and share information about yourself and your business when appropriate. Exchange business cards, connect on social media and don't forget to follow up after the event to maintain the new connections you've made.
How to network at an event?
Most importantly, when networking, you need to be prepared to be yourself. Most events will send you some form of itinerary or schedule. Expect to introduce yourself, to new people or even to the whole room. You won't give the perfect explanation the first time so don't worry! Nearly everyone there will be nervous, you won't be alone! Try setting clear goals for what you hope to achieve, whether it's meeting specific individuals, gathering information, nailing explaining what you do or seeking opportunities. Approach conversations with a genuine interest in learning about others and their work. Don't be afraid to initiate conversations and introduce yourself to new people. Lastly, remember to follow up with your contacts after the event to strengthen your connections. Connect on LinkedIn to continue the conversations!
What to wear to a networking event?
Deciding what to wear to a networking event hinges on the event's vibe and dress code. For formal gatherings you may be required to wear something traditional such as a smart suit or a dress. However, for more relaxed occasions like social gatherings, you have the freedom to express your authentic self. It is what we encourage at PUBNetworking! Rather than conforming to what you think might be the expectations, consider dressing in a way that reflects your personality and makes you feel confident. Whether it's a quirky shirt, your ripped jeans, or your 1980's bomber jacket, just let your outfit show the real you. The key is to strike a balance between professionalism and authenticity. After all, the most important thing is to be comfortable and true to yourself while making a memorable impression.
